Lucknow; On Thursday July 15 Chief Minister Mayawati condemned the apology of president of the Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav to Muslim community for tying up with former BJP leader Kalyan Singh. She reacted strongly to Yadav’s statement and regarded it as a political gimmick and quite ridiculous. She accused Yadav of sheltering one of those leaders who were responsible for the demolition of Babri Masjid.

She also stated that Yadav had long track record of manipulating with the communal forces. She also recollected that Yadav become a minister for first time in the year 1977 in Janata Party supported by communal forces. She continued saying Kalyan Singh and Yadav were also together in the Cabinet and in the year 1989 Yadav became Chief Minister by the help of communal forces which was again repeated in August 2003 when Kalyan Singh’s four-MLA party joined the coalition.

She then said development of some political compulsions had forced Yadav to call Kalyan Singh “wrong elements”.

“Such tactic would not erase communal blot on Yadav’s shoulders”, Mayawati said and added “Yadav should know that apology and crocodile tears had been badly exposed in the eyes of Muslims”.

Adding further she mentioned that Yadav believed that the people had a weak memory and this has proved to be against him. She stated that UP had witnessed large numbers of communal flare-ups during Yadav regime. Mayawati insisted that in order to strengthen BJP, Yadav had played dangerous game of “Hindu-Muslim” divide which resulted BJP coming to the power at the centre all due to his activities.

She said that Yadav’s statements were sheer opportunism. According to her Yadav has repeatedly shook hands with the communal forces for serving his vested interest. Thus she said that this new political stunt could not benefit the SP.
